Keep lessons covered when a teacher is away
CoverDesk turns a timetable and an absence record into a daily cover list. Review suggested replacements, prepare gate, assembly, break and lunch duties, then print the daily cover sheet for staff.

Why CoverDesk matters to your school
When a teacher is absent, the timetable alone does not tell staff who will cover the affected lessons. CoverDesk gives the deputy principal or timetable team a practical way to organise those changes.
- Less searching: identify affected lessons from your uploaded timetable and review suggested replacements.
- Clear responsibility: prepare a daily cover sheet showing the arrangements staff need to follow.
- More organised supervision: prepare rosters for gate, assembly, break and lunch duties.
- School control: review availability and subject suitability before approving each assignment.
Already buying Timetable membership? CoverDesk is included at KSh 999 for 140 days or KSh 2,499 for one year. You do not need to buy a separate CoverDesk pass with either combined membership.

To use your own timetable, upload its CSV file. CoverDesk working data stays in this browser; it does not automatically synchronise with your cloud timetable.
A practical school example
A teacher is away on Monday. Record the teacher and date; CoverDesk identifies their Monday lessons from the uploaded timetable. Use the cover suggestions, review staff suitability and availability, and approve the arrangements before sharing the printed sheet.
Start in five steps
- Open School data. Download the CSV template or load the working demo. For your school, prepare one row per lesson with the headings
day, period, class, subject, teacher. Keep teacher names consistent. - Upload the timetable CSV. School uploads require an active CoverDesk pass. Check the displayed teacher and lesson counts after importing.
- Record absence. Select the teacher and date, optionally enter a short reason, then choose Create cover list.
- Review Today’s cover. Select the school day and use Suggest all covers. Review every proposed assignment against actual availability, teaching suitability and school rules.
- Prepare and share. Use Duty roster for weekly gate, morning assembly, break patrol and lunch supervision. Review the roster, then use Print daily sheet for the day’s cover arrangements.
Review remains essential: Cover suggestions depend on the timetable you supply. Staff availability outside lessons, subject suitability and duty requirements should be checked by the school before assignments are adopted.

Where your CoverDesk work is saved
The current workspace saves working data in this browser. It does not automatically pull your cloud timetable or synchronise CoverDesk records between devices. Keep your source CSV safely, use the intended school device and print the approved daily sheet. Avoid sensitive medical details in the optional absence reason.

Common questions
Why does it say no lessons need cover?
Check the selected date, that an absence has been recorded and that the uploaded timetable contains that teacher’s lessons for the day.
Can I use a timetable prepared elsewhere?
Prepare it in the required CSV structure. Follow the downloadable template rather than uploading a Word file, PDF or arbitrary workbook.
Does a suggestion notify the teacher automatically?
Review and distribute the cover arrangements through your school’s normal staff communication process. The printed daily sheet supports that handover.
